Okkie Jooste Camp
On the month end of August this year, we as the Life sciences 152 students had an opportunity to camp in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve situated in Stellenbosch. The camp was exciting and tiring, from playing games to hiking in the mountain. The camp was not luxurious at all because we had to play ice breaking games and listen to long talks from our team leaders and our lecture as she introduced us to the site. Another activity that we did was to set up mammal traps in the bush for about thirty minutes. To me , the camp began to get tiring because we did not rest at all but all the laughing from the games we played made up for all the tiredness i was feeling. There were many activities that we took part in and there were many educational talks we attended which range from studying dichotomous keys by Lyle and learning about the history of the Jonkerhoek Nature Reserve.
On the following day we learnt about River ecology, Mini sass, ARC and in the evening we learnt about frogs by Lyle and we had a talent show that was hilarious.
The most tiring experience was hiking in the mountain on Monday where we identified different insects and flowers which were mostly fynbos. From the hike we did the practical for the camp. The most fun part was cooking with our fellow group mates but in any situation there were some obstacles within the group itself because some of our team mates were lazy to do anything but it was nice to engage in fun and educational activities in the Okkie Jooste Camp.
You had a great experience sinovuyo,I can see.
